Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim admits he cannot conceal from his troubling record and believes it is normal that Old Trafford legends are questioning him.

On Tuesday, the club's record goalscorer Wayne Rooney stated on his podcast that "the soul has gone" from his former club.

The Portuguese manager has achieved just eighteen wins from his 49 matches in control, including nine out of thirty-three in the English top flight, where he has yet to record back-to-back consecutive victories.

While senior club sources are certain that Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to be supportive Amorim, an inability to beat newly promoted Sunderland on the weekend will ignite fresh discussion about his future heading into another two-week pause in domestic football.

"It is normal," stated the Portuguese manager, when questioned about Rooney's remarks. "You can't escape from the outcomes."

"Furthermore you have the legacy from last season, [although] that period for me is irrelevant."

Fan Reaction and Current Circumstances

Manchester United's followers stayed behind Amorim following last season's disappointing showing, when they ended up fifteenth in the table - their poorest showing since the 1973-74 demotion season - and were defeated in the European final, in the expectation that the current campaign would be significantly better.

Amorim promised supporters the position would improve because he had greater opportunity to train with his team without the weekly distraction of continental competition.

That is not how the opening six matches have unfolded as Manchester United have endured 3 defeats already and are currently 14th in the standings.

Coach's Reaction to Concerns

When asked what guarantees he could give fans that the position will change, the manager continued: "This is not the time to talk, it is the time to demonstrate."

"Personally analyze the fixtures in the current campaign and, for me, they are completely different, but I have nothing to say at this moment."
