Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Hoping For

We already knew that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield car the community is eager to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

While many players would undoubtedly love to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed automobile Homer designed himself in the 1991 installment "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. We aren't even receiving the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck featured in the tenth season. Rather, fans are getting the Simpsons' standard beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an recognizable element of the show. For those who pay attention to Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan shares the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the sole cosmetic from the show arriving in Rocket League. The event will additionally feature a set of challenges to earn more rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance worthy of acquiring the perfect donuts!"

Although the complete list of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it appears fans will also get wheels with a TV showing The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event lines up with the major Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which includes a brand-new map of the fictional town, in addition to a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration launches on November 1st and ends on Nov. 17.
