The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry title that players experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for delighting in action and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose creations have exemplified all of those elements.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game series, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' structure by having a fresh setting and cast of characters in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners always encourages me with their steady confidence and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can change from year to year, while always examining the nature of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, daring approach to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
