The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Arrives, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Beloved Titles
Much like the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a popular character from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands
The feature will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is set to release near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo has three new games already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
