Tragedy Occurs as Inadvertent Detonation at Police Station in Indian-administered Kashmir Results in Nine Deaths
A tragic detonation at a security post in Indian-administered Kashmir has caused the deaths of nine persons and wounding to thirty-two others, according to authority reports.
The incident occurred when a stockpile of seized explosive materials unintentionally detonated during handling procedures.

The explosion took place on the evening of Friday at the Nowgam police station, where blast substances confiscated in the Faridabad area in the northern territory of Haryana province were being held provisionally.
Area security director declared that the detonation substances were awaiting forensic examination when a "very unfortunate" incident during management resulted in their detonation at approximately 23:20 local time.
Police Declarations
Security forces verified that this was an "accidental detonation" and not a terrorist attack. "Alternative theories regarding the cause of this event is unneeded," emphasized the security director during a press briefing.
The security post suffered significant harm from the blast, with nearby constructions also being impacted by the strong explosion.
Aftermath and Victims
Multiple vehicles were "consumed by fire and turned into burned shells, with fragments distributed across the area," according to authority statements.
"The power of the blast was so extreme that some physical fragments were recovered from adjacent homes, approximately between 100 and 200 meters from the police station," mentioned an police contact.
Most of the victims were law enforcement personnel, along with forensic personnel, two evidence documentation specialists, and a garment worker who was accompanying the group.

The area's Administrative Head expressed commiserations and announced that an inquiry had been ordered into the devastating event.
